Chameleons Change Their Colors As A Tool Of Communication

There are more than 200 chameleon species alive worldwide from Madagascar to South East Asia.Chameleons are reptiles belongs to the lizard family.

Smallest breed of chameleons is Brookesia Micra(0.6 inches) and the biggest breed of chameleons is Furcifer Oustaleti(30 inches).

Their habitats includes forests and bushes.Chameleons consumed insects such as crickets..grasshoppers..and locusts.

Chameleons skin cells called chromatophores equipped with colors pigments called iridophores to change their skin colors.Chameleons change their skin colors to communicate with their fellow species..relax..and regulates their body temperatures.

blue..red..orange..green..black..brown..
yellow..and purple.Female chameleons are tan to brown colors with pink and orange streaks.

Male chameleons are bright in colors such as red..orange..blue..and etc.

Chameleons turned into dark colors to expels predators and rivals.
Chameleons turned into lighter colors to attract mates.Chameleons tongue can extend up to 20 feet in 20 milliseconds.

Chameleons can detects small insects from 5 to 10 metres away.Chameleons can hear sounds with the frequency ranges from 200 to 600 hertz.Their prehensile tails coiled around branches and twigs to climb and balance their bodies.The tails can grow back when it's broken off.
