How Flamingos Become Pink Red And Orange Plumage

Flamingos are the national birds of Bahamas.

Flamingos lives between 20 to 30 years.A group of flamingos is called flamboyance.

Flamingos can bend their knees backward. The backward 'knees' are flamingos ankles to further up their legs.

Flamingos rest and sleep on one leg to save their energy and maintaining their body temperature.

Flamingos vibrant pink..red..orange plumage colors comes from their algae..crustaceans..and small aquatic insects diet.

The higher the level of beta carotenoids and tiny blue green algae in their diet..the more vibrant their colors will become.

Flamingos can only eat with their heads upside down.

Flamingo chicks are grey in color with the size of a tennis ball.Their color will turns into pink..red..or orange plumage after 3 years as the result of their plankton and shrimps intake.

Flamingos produce pink milk for their chicks.Their yolks are pink too.

Flamingos can recognize their chicks by the sound of their calls even though their chicks are in the pool of 30,000 flamingo chicks.

Beautiful albino flamingo.
